More sights to see!

Well, here's some more of the fun that i've been having. The ward had a picnic on the Mall (area where all the museums and monuments are) and so this is a picture of me with my friends Amber and Olga.

I also saw the lincoln memorial which had a great view of the Washington monument and the reflection pool!

This veiw is of the Lincoln memorial, reflection pool, and WWII monument from the top of the Washington monument! It was so cool to be able to see the whole valley on each sides like a bird!

This pic is of Peter at the air and space museum in an airplane they let you sit in. Also there's a picture of me and Peter at the zoo pulling silly faces.

Then here's a picture of me by the capitol building. This other pic is of the inside of the library of congress. It is so beautiful in there! I think if i came there to read i'd just look at the beauty of the rooms instead the whole time!

Bathroom Yuckiness!

So, Friday morning I had time so I decided to clean my apartment which needed it a lot! I got a surprise in the bathroom. When I lifted up the bathmat on the underside it was covered in white mildew or whatever you call the mold that comes from standing water. It was so discusting! Also, on the tile underneath it was spotted with mold spots that were hardened. yuck!

So, I decided I needed to get rid of it or else I would be disgusted everytime I went into the bathroom! I soaked it with some cleaner and then got a knife and scraped it all off. It took a good hour or so but it is way worth it! Look how good it looks! now when I go into the bathroom I am actually proud instead of disgusted! I just hope there aren't other surprises that I haven't found...

A Saturday in DC

Well, Saturday I decided to go downtown to the Mall in DC and see some of the sites. I first stopped at the Museum of Natural History and toured that for about 4 hours. It is huge! There were mammals, dinosaurs, bones, insects, gems, geological things, bits of meteorites, everything!There was this deer that had fangs! I really only got to glance at things, and only got to read a little bit about some things. I'm going to definately have to go back and see more of it! My feet were getting tired, though, so I decided I should go outside and sit down and eat my lunch.







After I got rested I headed off to the Archives. It was saturday so, of course, there was a huge line to get in which took about 45 min and then a line inside for the Charters of Freedom exhibit which is where the Declaration and Constitution was. Over all it took almost 2 hours to see those but it was great. It was fun to just stand by the Declaration and look at it and realize that the BOM had prophesized of it thousands of years before and that these documents formed the country to be religously free and eventually allow Joseph Smith to restore the Gospel. It was fun to go down and see those sites! I've still got a lot more to

see and I hope that I'll be able to enjoy a lot of them!

The National Cathedral!

Here are some views of the National Cathedral that I went and saw on Thursday. It was huge and gorgeous! It had so many spires and the tour guide said it was...10 stories high, I think. I tried to get some pics with me in it and the Cathedral but my head was too big! It's hard taking pictures of yourself!

These next pictures are of the inside of the building. It is so beautiful and has a ton of stain glass windows that tell stories of Christ's life, occupation of people, memoirs of military services, and one even is a comemoritive of the landing on the moon. In that one they were actually given a piece of rock from the moon from Armstrong and they put it in the middle of the stain glass! They also had tons of carvings and this one has a lot of symbolism, one being clothe the naked, visit the prisoned, feed the poor, etc. The sculpture of Christ in the middle was not supposed to be lighter than the rest but it was. The rock they were going to use for it had deteriated by the time they got to it so they had to use a different kind not realizing that it was lighter than the rest. I think it looks good. The third picture is of President Woodrow Wilson's...tomb, grave, I don't know what to call it. He's the only president buried there. It was a great experience to see all of the beautiful art and the Gothic architecture. It was awesome!

First week in Washington DC

Hi! I'm in Washington D.C! It is so different out here and everything is so close which is nice. Here are a few pictures of the outside of our apt. building which is huge! Also there is a picture of my studio apt. front room. Then there's a picture of me at the zoo and a spectackle bear is behind me just lounging away in the sun. It is very humid here which I am not used to- Thank goodness for the swamp cooler!
